20. The Man Who Knew too Much (1956)

Hitchcock remakes his own 1934 film of the same name. This time he has Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day to play with.

19. The Ring (2002)

Strong American update of 1998’s Ringu out of Japan. The lovely Naomi Watts stars.

18. The Magnificent Seven (1960)

Another remake of a Japanese classic, 1954’s The Seven Samurai which is one of the greatest movies ever made. This movie has an incredible cast.

Donald Sutherland stars in a remake of the 1956 film of the same name.

Not an official remake but so what. It copies 1961’s Yojimbo out of Japan. A must for fans of spaghetti westerns.

Another unofficial remake of 1961’s Yojimbo, the filmmakers were successfully sued. Clint Eastwood is badass as the man with no name.

Another remake directed by William Friedkin is this update on France’s 1953 film The Wages of Fear. This is one of the most intense movies ever made.

It blows away 1951’s The Thing from Another World.
